Architectural Series—Cores

You can specify core type based on the needs of the project. Consider how the door is expected to perform. What outside environmental factors will the door be subjected to? How long is the door expected to last? Review these core options and talk to your Oregon Door rep for more insight.
Also known as PC core, particleboard core is the most economical choice you can make and is recommended for a wide range of commercial interior door applications.
Also known as strand, timberstand, or SCL core, structural composite lumber core is virtually free from warping, splitting, and shrinking.

Also known as mineral core or simply fire core, fire-rated mineral core is composed of a proprietary mix of various minerals, fiberglass, and inert binders.
Also known as wheat, straw, or ag core, agrifiber core is manufactured using abundant agricultural waste such as wheat husks, corn husks, or rice straw.
Many specialty core options are available to meet the requirements of your latest project, including lead-lined and bullet resistant core, and more. Contact Oregon Door to discuss your needs.
Each specialty core provides unique characteristics to meet specific project needs.

The perfect solution when sound reduction is required, acoustic core is specifically designed to lessen sound transmission through a building opening. Also known as sound transmission class (STC) core, sound core, or STC core.
Lower STC ratings may be achieved with the use of standard core selections and appropriate gasketing. Higher STC ratings require specialty core specifically designed to control acoustic transmission. Cores below provide stated STC ratings when installed with appropriate gasketing: Up to STC 30 with particleboard core Up to STC 31 with stave core Up to STC 32 with structural composite lumber core Up to STC 35 with fire-rated mineral core Up to STC 49 with acoustic core
Oregon Door’s acoustic doors provide superior sound control to meet the specialized design and performance requirements of varied building projects. Whether it be patients recovering in hospitals, weary travelers seeking a good night’s sleep, or ensuring students have less distractions while learning, our acoustic-rated doors can contribute to the overall comfort and well-being of a building’s environment and its occupants.
