Consider the Door Security & Safety Foundation on #GivingTuesday

November 20, 2017 9:54 am

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving, fueled by the power of social media, that kicks off the charitable season. It falls on the heels of Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday in the U.S (Nov. 28). We hope you will take this opportunity to give to the Foundation and support our efforts to educate the public about the importance of the balance of life safety and security.

Below are some highlights from this past year:

The Foundation launched a new microsite, www.lockdontblock.org, which houses resources and tools about the dangers and unintended consequences of barricade devices in school classrooms.

The Foundation also launched a new Facebook ad campaign to advocate to school administrators about “Opening the Door to School Safety,” using a boosted Facebook post and three different infographics over the past three months, targeting 100,000 school administrators across North America to spread awareness.

Eleven scholarships were awarded from among 200 applicants, to be used toward DHI technical education. Thank you to our sponsors.

The Foundation has continued to partner with NFPA to conduct a dozen one-day classes for healthcare facility personnel about the annual fire door inspection requirements.

The Education Advocate program launched this year, providing FDAIs the exclusive opportunity to teach the Foundation’s education to healthcare facility personnel about the annual fire door inspection requirements.

This work is an extension of the Foundation’s mission, which includes advocating for the expertise of door security + safety professionals to all stakeholders, including school administrators, design, end-user and code official communities.

Please consider the Foundation among some of the other great causes on #GivingTuesday. We can’t do this work without you. Make a contribution online here or contact JHeppes@dhi.org if you’d like to consider a larger corporate contribution. Thank you for your support.
