Longtime manager joins expanding team!

Keith SpencerWinston, Oregon—Keith Spencer has been named plant manager at Oregon Door. In this position, he will lead all manufacturing operations and contribute to overall company leadership.

Spencer has a noted history in operations and production management. Prior to joining Oregon Door, Keith most recently served as manager of all Oregon and Northern California operations for the Reddyice Corporation.

Oregon Door Vice President/General Manager Brian Bennett first hired Spencer while working at Roseburg Forest Products. “When we needed someone to get on top of growth challenges, I sought out Keith as one who could get it done,” Bennett said. “Keith’s skill set is exactly what we need now at Oregon Door as we continue to experience unprecedented growth.”

A native of Libby, Montana, Spencer is a veteran of the US Coast Guard. During his service, he was a member of the Presidential Honor Guard, earned a marine science technician rating, and was stationed on the USCG Staten Island, a wind-class icebreaker.

After being honorably discharged, Spencer began his career in the wood products industry at Champion International’s sawmill in Libby, Montana. Realizing that higher education was important to reach his goals, he then pursued a degree in operations management at Concordia University in Portland, Oregon, where he graduated summa cum laude. “I took 20 credits each quarter while working full time in security in a hospital emergency room,” Spencer said.

Following graduation, Spencer returned to wood products holding several management/supervisory positions in Oregon and Washington at a cedar sawmill, export sawmill, and a cut-to size lumber mill.

In 1996 he transitioned to Vancouver, Washington’s ceramic capacitor array manufacturer, AVX Corporation, as general supervisor over several departments.

In 2002, he joined Bennett at Roseburg Forest Products. There Spencer progressed through several different positions, including particleboard division shift supervisor and general supervisor, pre-finish/melamine superintendent, and sawmill division general manager.

Speaking about the variety of his experience and his love of challenge, Keith Spencer said, “I am extremely honored to have been offered a position with Oregon Door and look forward to being a part of its ongoing success.”

“Keith’s background and experience is a welcome addition to the Oregon Door team,” stated Tim Cox, Director of Sales and Marketing. “As we navigate this period of growth and its recent associated issues while increasing our commitment to sustainable and environmentally-responsible manufacturing, I have no doubt that Keith will help our company thrive.”
